Ongoing projects:

International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IIMCB) received grants to support technology transfer within the Ochota Biocentre consortium. The grants are sponsored by Operational Programme – Innovative Economy (PO IG), Operational Programme - Human Capital (PO KL) and the programme of the Minister of Science and Higher Education – Kreator Innowacyjno┼Ťci (Creator of Innovativeness):

- "Support for the commercialization and patenting of inventions related to restriction RNAses"

Objective of the project: patent protection for a group of inventions related to new technologies of restriction Ribonucleases; market research and valuation of inventions – finding potential investor

  • "A method for the determination of the sequence recognized by the RNA/DNA hybrid binding protein"

- "Support for the IP protection and commercialization of invention protecting food and people from S. aureus bacteria"

Objective of the project: patent protection of LytM applications; developing effective elimination of S. aureus bacteria from the environment by innovative approaches using lytic enzymes; market research and valuation of inventions – finding potential investor

  • "A method of peptide hydrolysis, peptidase, the composition for use as a bacteriostatic and bactericidal agent, a kit and the uses of the active form of LytM from S. aureus or derivatives thereof"

- "Covering the costs of patent protection for „Tools and methods useful in characterising the immunotoxic activity of xenobiotic substances

Objective of the project: patent protection for a platform - Fluorescnet Cell Chip (FCC) –  helpful in characterising the immunotoxic activity of xenobiotic substances; market research and valuation of inventions – finding potential investor

FishMed "Fishing for Medicines and their targets using Zebrafish models of human diseases" - IP-related issues
7th Framework Programme – EU Research Project (FP7-REGPOT-2012-2013-1)

Budget: 3 997 378,40 EUR (225 450 EUR for BioTech-IP)
Duration of the project: December 2012 - May 2016

Activities within the project related to BioTech-IP to increase the interest of potential investors in R&D projects at IIMCB by:

  • collaboration with experts in the field of technology transfer and IP to commercialize technologies originated at IIMCB
  • organization of  “science to business” brunches
  • organization of  workshops on IP protection and technology transfer
  • participation of BioTech-IP staff in  brokerage meetings

InterReg IVC - ETTBio - Effective Technology Transfer in Biotechnology

The objective of this project is to improve effectiveness of technology transfer from research institutes and universities in the life science & biotechnology sector. Through interregionalcooperation, good practices will be identified and implemented. This will lead to an increase in the performance of technology transfer (e.g. number of spin out, license income, etc.) with a positive impact on the regional economy (e.g. number of employees,taxes etc.).

SPINTECH, National Centre for Research and Development

Professionalization of the Centre for Technology Transfer BioTech-IP activities through legal and organizational preparation for the establishment of a special purpose company BioTech-IP Ltd.

Activities within the project:

  • Identification and assessment of research results commercial potential
  • Assessment and valuation of the commercialization possible paths
  • Identification of technology potential recipients
  • Preparation of business plan and legal documentation for the initiation of BioTech-IP Ltd.

"Support for bio tech med scientists in technology transfer"
(UDA-POKL.08.02.01-14-041/09-00)

Budget: 2 586 000 PLN
Duration of the project: April 2010 - October 2014

Activities within the project:

  • 12 research stipends for innovative projects for PhD students working in Ochota Biocentre institutes
  • 12 two-month placements for Ochota Biocentre scientists
  • 150 of training courses on issues such as: R&D project management, starting a business, commercialization of R&D results, IPR, negotiations in business
  • Meetings and a conference promoting tech transfer and giving an opportunity to launch science-industry cooperation.

  • Increasing the number of patentable inventions (identifying applicable projects and assisting in their commercialization),
  • Awareness raising in Ochota Biocentre scientists of IPR and R&D commercialization (12 training courses on IPR and commercialization),
  • Promoting intellectual and infrastructural potential of Ochota Biocentre institutes,
  • Supporting science-industry cooperation in bio-tech-med field.
